Dilgo Khyentsé Rinpotché visited and blessed Nyima Dzong for the first time in 1980.

During a second visit, in 1982, Khyentse Rinpoche consecrated the stupa, which had been built according to Dudjom Rinpoche's instructions.

On his third and last visit, which took place in August, 1990, Khyentse Rinpoche consecrated the new temple and all the statues it contains.

Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche's visit to Nyima Dzong – July 22d to 24th, 2010

Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche was born in Nepal on June 30,1993. When Khyentse Rinpoche passed away, his close students requested Trulshik Rinpoche, his most senior and accomplished disciple, to find his incarnation. He had numerous dreams and visions that clearly indicated the identity of the incarnation. He was the son of Tsikey Chogling Rinpoche Mingyur Dewai Dorje, the third embodiment of Chogyur Dechen Lingpa, (himself the son of Tulku Ugyen Rinpoche), and Dechen Paldron. His Holiness the Dalai Lama confirmed that this child was the tulku or reincarnation of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche.

Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche is being educated in the quiet of Bhutan under the guidance of Rabjam Rinpoche. He studies a complete Shedra (nine-year philosophical college course) in Bhutan with a small group of tulkus tutored by Khenpo Yeshe Gyaltsen. English and meditation are included in the curriculum. Details of Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche's visit:

• Thursday July 22nd - In the evening, Mathieu Ricard will introduce Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche's life and activities (slide show). This will be followed by the screening of a new documentary also on Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche's life.
• Friday July 23d - 9h30, Welcome Yangsi Rinpoche in the main temple, where a ritual of mandala offering and offering of the supports of body, speech and mind for Yangsi's long life will take place. In the afternoon, there will be a tsok offering based on Khyentse Rinpoche's guru-yoga, after which a collection of sacred relics and personal belongings of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche as well as relics form some of the masters of the Khyentse lineage will be displayed in the upper temple.
• Saturday July 24th - 9h30, Yangsi Rinpoche will give a teaching, followed by some questions and answers. At 15h00, Yangsi Rinpoche will confer an empowerment.

It can be reached from the D955 road which connects Castellane to Comps-sur-Artuby, through a forest path going up from the road around 750m south of the Pont de Soleils bridge. The area being quite popular during the summer, it would be wise to book your accommodation as soon as possible. Camping on unauthorised sites is forbidden in the whole area.
